Forming presses for large, thick-walled pipes with diameters up to 1.5 m (4.9 ft) are extremely rare. Worldwide only a handful of these presses exist and each one is unique. One of such presses is the new crimping press at Europipe in Mülheim, Germany, which is used as part of a U-O-E press line. After two and a half years of continuous operation and almost one million press strokes, this report details the design, start-up and experience with the new press under operating conditions.
