This article presents the features of the two continuous galvanizing lines (CGL) at the Voestalpine Stahl works in Linz, Austria, and points out their differences resulting from the different product focus of the two lines. CGL No. 4 was started up in 2007 and CGL No. 5 in early 2010. These two lines, built by Andritz Metals, are the most recent step in broadening the capability of Voestalpine Stahl to supply the galvanized products market, ranging from sectors such as building to automotive exposed parts, with products as demanding as AHSS, TRIP and DP grades.
